MEASURING FOR FLOORING
It is very simple to measure for flooring. Two basic ways to measure - by square foot or square yard. Most wood flooring, laminate (such as PergoÆ ) and tile floors are measured by square foot. Most carpets and vinyls are measured by square yard.

MEASURING FORMULAS
When measuring for square foot: Multiply length x width of any room. This equals your square footage. (length x width = sq.ft) Add an additional 10% for waste. Remember to take measurements for length x width of every room separately.

When measuring for square yards:
Multiply length x width of any room. This equals your square footage. (length x width = sq.ft) Add an additional 7% for waste, then divide that number by 9 = square yards. (There are 9 square feet in a square yard)
